چکیده

Teak (Tectona grandis) leaves is commonly used as the packaging material of traditional food in Indonesia. This study aimed to determine physical and chemical characteristics teak with various maturation stages obtain information about potency active material. The analysis including leaf color, thickness, tensile strength, while were moisture, fat content, fatty acid, volatile profile. results showed that light green, 0.306±0.024 mm, 0.22±0.114 MPa, 74.93%, 2.52% respectively for young leaves; mature has darker 0.388±0.001 0.36±0.163 73.05%, 2.54% respectively. acid profiles contained 5 types acids, dominated by lignoceric acid; 9 acids tricosanoic acid. components e.g. ester compounds, was ether compounds. From results, it suggested use can be scientifically justified.

Adsorption of Cadmium(ii) Ions from Aqueous Solution by Tectona Grandis L.f. (teak Leaves Powder)

Batch adsorption studies were undertaken with the abundantly available waste biosorbent Tectona grandis L.f. leaf powder for removal of cadmium(II) from aqueous solutions. The adsorption experiments were performed under various conditions such as time, temperature, different initial Cd(II) concentrations, pH, adsorbent dosage, and adsorbent particle size. The data showed that in 30 minutes, 1 g...

Establishment of endomycorrhizal fungi on micropropagated teak (Tectona grandis L.f.)

Background Commercial micropropagation of teak (Tectona grandisL.f.) has been achieved for a number of years in countries such as Thailand, India and Malaysia. This has led to the availability of elite genotypes for large scale plantation production. Teak has been shown to develop arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal associations [1], and this has been attributed to increasing productivity [2]. I...

Prospects of Tectona Grandis as a Feedstock for Biodiesel

The limited availability of fossil fuels has encouraged the need of replacement fuels of renewable nature. Among the renewable fuels, biodiesel produced from oil seeds and food wastes has been favored by the majority of researchers. In this study, Tectona Grandis seed oil has been investigated as a non-edible feedstock for biodiesel. The oil content of seed is 43% which makes it suitable for co...

Effect of plant stages on analgesic and anti inflammatory activity of the leaves of Tectona grandis

The methanolic extracts of the frontal and mature leaves of Tectona grandis were comparatively evaluated for their analgesic and anti inflammatory activity. The analgesic and anti inflammatory activities were evaluated using the Eddy’s hot plate and Carrageenan induced paw edema models in rats respectively. The results of the analgesic activity have revealed that the frontal leaves and the matu...
